CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Arizona Supreme Court has recognized Chandler Municipal Court as a recipient of the Strategic Agenda Award for Advancement in Technology, honoring the court’s innovative Instant Language Assistant program. The award was presented during the 2025 Court Leadership Conference in Flagstaff, Ariz.

Each year, the Arizona Supreme Court honors court programs and individuals across the state that advance the goals outlined in the Chief Justice’s five-year strategic plan. Chandler Municipal Court was recognized for its technology-driven approach to improving accessibility and customer service for limited English-speaking residents.

Introduced in 2024, the Instant Language Assistant (ILA) is a tablet-based system placed at public service windows that enables real-time, two-way translation in more than 250 languages. By integrating ILA into daily operations, court staff can communicate instantly with visitors in their preferred language to help explain procedures, process payments and provide information accurately and efficiently.

“We’re honored to be recognized by the Arizona Supreme Court for our continued efforts to enhance accessibility, improve the customer experience and make our visitors feel more comfortable,” said Presiding Judge Alicia Skupin. “The Instant Language Assistant is a great example of how we’re leveraging technology to make court services more inclusive for the public.”

Chandler Municipal Courts serves more than 250 customers daily and processes about 45,000 cases each year. The award highlights the Court’s commitment to innovation and equitable access to justice.
