Members of the Chandler City Council and residents serving on police-related boards and commissions had the opportunity to tour the Real Time Crime Center at the Chandler Police Department.
“The Real Time Crime Center is a game-changer in how we will protect our community and ensure the safety of police officers,” said Mayor Kevin Hartke. “The insights gathered here allow officers to arrive on scene more informed, better prepared and safer.”
The Chandler Police Department is leading the way in leveraging technology to create a safer, smarter and more connected community. The center integrates advanced mapping, surveillance and traffic cameras, drones and other police technology resources to locate and gather information related to emergency calls.
Using real-time intelligence enhances situational awareness for police officers and offers vital information as they arrive on-scene. It also gathers information and evidence that can aid in the investigation of police incidents. These resources equip police with information and tools needed to protect residents, businesses and officers.
As this center evolves, there will be future opportunities for businesses and residents to opt-in to providing the Real Time Crime Center with access to their surveillance and security cameras. These insights will help police respond during emergencies and investigate crimes, which enhances safety for the community and officers.
