Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony honors local athletic accomplishments Feb. 2

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Nine individuals who brought recognition to Chandler through their athletic accomplishments will be celebrated at the upcoming Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Monday, Feb. 2 at the Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. There will be a reception with light refreshments from 5-6 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 6 p.m.

The Chandler Sports Hall of Fame inductees include:

  • Dawn Chapman
  • Meg Gianesello
  • Bryce Holland
  • Rylie Johnson
  • Chase Lucas
  • Mitch Nay
  • Hamilcar Rashed Jr.
  • Keri Suell
  • Sharon Vanis

In addition to the inductees, the Sports Hall of Fame will give Special Recognition Awards to Dan Serrano, retiring Principal of Perry High School, and Frank Narducci, retiring Chandler Unified School District Superintendent.

“This year’s phenomenal class features athletes and coaches who set the standard for excellence. All these honorees have represented the City of Chandler and their Chandler school in a way that is second to none. We look forward to celebrating this year’s class of Chandler Sports Hall of Fame inductees,” says John Vincent, co-chairman of the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame Committee.

The Chandler Sports Hall of Fame, along with the Chandler Museum, celebrates the rich history of Chandler athletics by honoring those athletes, coaches and teams that brought recognition to the City of Chandler through their exceptional talent. This recognition may include national or statewide record-setting performances or contributions to the community and athletics in general. Athletes who are from Chandler or lived in Chandler during the time of their achievement, or those who attended a Chandler school, are eligible.

The selection committee is comprised of former coaches, school administrators, athletes and others with a genuine interest in the history of athletics in Chandler. Since 2004, the Chandler Sports Hall of Fame has recognized some of the best athletes, coaches and teams that call Chandler home.

For the first time, tickets for the event are free and available online through Eventbrite.
