Volunteer Throughout the City

The Chandler Acts of Kindness donation program, or A-OK for short, was developed in July 2000, to give residents an opportunity to make a voluntary donation to assist individuals and families within the City of Chandler that are in need.

The contributions collected go back into the community through a grant process to support a variety of human service programs that provide basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, medical services, transportation, and utility bill assistance to low-income Chandler residents.

When faced with the question of what to do about those who are panhandling on Chandler streets, the City decided to take the issue and frame it a little differently.

Rather than going after people asking for money, Chandler’s Neighborhood Resources Department and the nonprofit For Our City-Chandler worked together to find a better way to meet the needs of the community.

The end result was ChangeUp, a text-to-donate campaign that allows residents to quickly give to programs directly serving people experiencing homelessness in Chandler.

Let’s Pull Together aims to provide elderly residents, persons with disabilities, veterans, and families experiencing hardships with help in maintaining their yard alleyway and carports. Volunteers may help with yard work, painting homes, and helping remove unwanted items. These projects typically last a day but, the impact lasts forever.

This volunteer opportunity is ideal for groups four to 20 people.

Site Buck Store is an incentive program for our Housing Youth to earn ‘Site Bucks’ by actively participating in the after-school program, completing homework, taking part in community events and displaying commendable behavior. Our youth then use the site bucks as currency to purchase items from our store such as school supplies, toys, gadgets, clothing and more.

We are excited to bring a new program to the City of Chandler. This program will connect seniors with cost-of-living assistance, resources for large home repairs and everyday supplies such as toiletries, food and help in finding transportation.

This volunteer opportunity is ideal for individuals, families or groups.

The City works work with For Our City - Chandler and other local non-profits to collect and provide bottled water and A/C to residents in need.

Every October, For Our City Day revitalizes an entire neighborhood in just ONE day. Projects include painting homes, spreading gravel, basic front yard maintenance, cleaning alleys and more. This program assists in the revitalization and preservation of declining Chandler neighborhoods.
