The primary function of an employee in this class is to perform specialized journey level mechanical maintenance and repair on all types of complex firefighting apparatus and related equipment, to include heavy duty Fire response trucks, general purpose automotive vehicles and specialized components such as centrifugal fire pumps, hydraulically operated aerial ladders, elevating platforms and computerized electronic control systems.
