
CHANDLER, Ariz. – The city’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division will celebrate Juneteenth and Freedom Week by supporting three community events in Chandler.
The public is invited to the fourth annual Culture Music in the Park on Saturday, June 14, from 7-9:30 p.m. at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West, 3 S. Arizona Ave. The event will feature live music by Vaughn Willis & Ear Candy. Barbeque will be available for purchase from the Kravins food truck, and the Black Student Medical Association will sell bottled water for $1, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting their organization.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to relax between musical sets. The event is co-hosted by the South Chandler Self-Help Foundation and Ready, Set, Go! Foundation, in partnership with Chandler’s DEI Division.
Chandler’s DEI Division is also a proud sponsor of the annual Miss Juneteenth Arizona Scholarship and Pageant, organized by the South Chandler Self-Help Foundation. The pageant will take place on Friday, June 13, at the Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m.
This annual event celebrates Juneteenth and focuses on empowering young women by promoting education, community service and cultural awareness. Tickets may be purchased online at Miss Juneteenth Arizona.
In addition, the Chandler Men of Action will host the annual Juneteenth Father’s Day Mixer at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at Singing Pandas Asian Restaurant & Bar, 757 E. Chandler Blvd. Guests will enjoy live entertainment from Dee Dee Carson and the Unlimited Band. Buffet-style appetizers will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Drinks and entrees will also be available for purchase.
