Small-scale developers to discuss missing middle housing at upcoming community event

CHANDLER, Ariz. — The City of Chandler invites residents, business owners and community members to join the conversation at ChandlerTalks: Dream BIG, build small, a free community event highlighting how small-scale developers are addressing the region’s “missing middle” housing needs.

The event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N. Arizona Ave. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Featured speakers include:

  • Jim Heid, founder of UrbanGreen + CRAFT Development
  • Lorenzo Perez, founder of Venue Projects
  • Sin Heikwok, founder of LoftsPhx Studio

Together, they will share insights on how building small can enhance communities, create more housing choices and support long-term sustainability.

The event is part of the city’s General Plan Update, a vital process that guides Chandler’s long-term growth, development and quality of life over the next decade. All ages are welcome and dinner will be provided. Attendees also will have the opportunity to learn more about the General Plan and provide input on the draft of the General Plan - Evolving the Chandler Way. Feedback will be accepted through Dec. 1.

“This is your city and your voice matters,” said Lauren Schumann, principal planner for the City of Chandler. “By participating in ChandlerTalks or giving input on the draft General Plan, you can help shape the policies and priorities that will define Chandler for the next generation.”
