CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler residents are invited to join Mayor Kevin Hartke for a fun and leisurely bike ride along the Paseo Trail during the 18th annual Chandler Family Bike Ride on Saturday, April 11 at Chandler’s Park & Ride lot, 2100 S. Hamilton St. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the ride starting promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Riders, guided by the Chandler Police Bike Team, will bike along the Paseo Trail south to Tibshraeny Park and back to the Park & Ride lot. After completing the 7.8-mile ride, cyclists can enjoy a free Kona Ice to celebrate.
This year’s theme is Ride to Save the World. The event highlights how everyday bike trips to the park, school and work can reduce traffic, improve air quality and help protect the planet. Small rides, big impact. Riders are invited to wear their favorite superhero gear.
All Family Bike Ride participants will receive a free T-shirt, while supplies last. Pre-ride activities include bike decorating stations, free face painting and exploring community partners’ booths, which will feature information on bicycle safety, transit services and more.
Participants are asked to register online at Family Bike Ride. While creativity and fun are encouraged, safety remains the top priority. Riders are required to wear helmets and obey traffic laws. E-bikes are not allowed on the Paseo Trail and will not be permitted on the guided group ride.
The Chandler Family Bike Ride is presented by the city’s Transportation Policy Division with support from various city departments. The city thanks this year’s partners: SRP, Global Bikes, Chandler BMX, Valley Metro, SCHEELS, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Black Girls Do Bike, Bike Chandler Citizens Academy and Arizona Disabled Sports.
