CHANDLER, Ariz. — The nominations are in for the Mayor’s Neighborhood Excellence awards and five Chandler neighborhoods are vying for the People’s Choice award.
Registered HOAs and traditional neighborhoods in Chandler who held a community G.A.I.N. event last fall as part of the region’s Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods initiative held in partnership with local police departments were eligible to be nominated.
The following Chandler neighborhoods are up for the People’s Choice Award:
- Carriage Lane, near Elliot and Dobson roads
- Dobson Place, near Gilbert Road and Chandler Boulevard
- Sun Groves, near Lindsay and Riggs roads
- Tyson Manor, near Galveston Street and Alma School Road
- Willis Ranch, near Pecos and McQueen roads
Voting is open through 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28. Votes may be cast online at Mayor's Neighborhood Excellence Awards. Voters are encouraged to visit the website to read the nominations highlighting each neighborhood’s G.A.I.N. event. Voters may cast one vote per device.
The winner will be announced at the G.A.I.N. kick-off registration event scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9:30-11 a.m. in the Chandler Police Department, community room at 250 E. Chicago St.
The winner will receive a first-place pick in this year’s G.A.I.N. event lottery and up to $1,000 for their G.A.I.N. event. In addition to the People’s Choice Award, Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke will review the nominations and select a winner of his own.
