Loop 202 Closure Map

Stay informed as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) makes improvements to the Loop 202 Santan Freeway. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Major elements of the project include:

  • Add two lanes in each direction between Price Rd. and Gilbert Rd.
  • Add one lane in each direction between Gilbert Rd. and Val Vista Dr.
  • Widen Loop 202 freeway entrance and exit ramps
  • Widen bridges over Arizona Ave., Union Pacific Railroad and Consolidated Canal

Starting in 2025, each of the freeway entrance and exit ramps will close for up to 60 consecutive days to widen the ramps. ADOT will stagger this work to avoid closing consecutive freeway entrance or exit ramps in the same direction. 

Ramps connecting the Loop 101 and Loop 202 freeways also will close for up to 15 consecutive days as improvements are made. 

Traffic Restrictions

Loop 101/Loop 202 Interchange

  • The ramp connecting southbound Loop 101 Price Freeway to the eastbound Loop 202 Santan Freeway will close for approximately two weeks starting at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20.
  • The HOV ramp connecting Loop 101 and Loop 202 will remain open, but HOV hours and restrictions remain in effect. 

Westbound Loop 202

  • Westbound Loop 202 will be closed between Loop 101 and I-10 from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, until 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 will be closed between I-10 and Loop 101 from 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, until 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. 

At Dobson Road:

  • Westbound Loop 202 exit ramp at Dobson Rd. is closed for reconstruction until mid-March 2026.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 entrance ramp at Dobson Rd. will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, until 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. 

At Alma School Road:

  • Eastbound Loop 202 exit ramp at Alma School Rd. is closed for reconstruction until early April 2026. 

At Arizona Avenue:

  • Westbound Loop 202 exit ramp at Arizona Ave. will close for reconstruction starting at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16. The ramp is scheduled to reopen in late April. 

At Cooper Road:

  • Westbound Loop 202 will be narrowed to two lanes between Cooper and McQueen roads from 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, until Noon Sunday, Feb. 8. The westbound Loop 202 entrance ramp at Cooper Rd. also will be closed.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 exit ramp at Cooper Rd. will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 11, and ending Friday morning, Feb. 13.
