Loop 202 Closure Map

Stay informed as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) makes improvements to the Loop 202 Santan Freeway. The project is scheduled for completion in 2027.

Major elements of the project include:

  • Add two lanes in each direction between Price Rd. and Gilbert Rd.
  • Add one lane in each direction between Gilbert Rd. and Val Vista Dr.
  • Widen Loop 202 freeway entrance and exit ramps
  • Widen bridges over Arizona Ave., Union Pacific Railroad and Consolidated Canal

Each of the freeway entrance and exit ramps will close for up to 60 consecutive days to widen the ramps. ADOT will stagger this work to avoid closing consecutive freeway entrance or exit ramps in the same direction. Ramps connecting the Loop 101 and Loop 202 freeways also will close for up to 15 consecutive days as improvements are made. 

Traffic Restrictions

Loop 202

  • Eastbound Loop 202 closed between Price Road and Arizona Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday, April 17, until 5 a.m. Monday, April 20.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 closed between Arizona Avenue and Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday, April 24, until 5 a.m. Monday, April 27.

At Alma School Road:

  • Eastbound Loop 202 entrance ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. starting Monday night, April 6, through Friday morning, April 10. 

At Arizona Avenue:

  • Northbound Arizona Avenue will be closed between Willis and Pecos roads from 10 p.m. Friday, April 10, until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, April 11.
  • Southbound Arizona Avenue will be closed between Pecos and Willis roads from 12:01 a.m. Sunday, April 12, until 5 a.m. Monday, April 13.
  • Westbound Loop 202 exit ramp at Arizona Avenue is closed for reconstruction until late April.
  • Eastbound Loop 202 exit ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. starting Monday night, April 6, through Friday morning, April 10.

At McQueen Road:

  • Eastbound Loop 202 entrance ramp at McQueen Road is closed for reconstruction until mid-May.
  • Westbound Loop 202 exit ramp at McQueen Road will close for reconstruction starting Friday, April 17, at 9 p.m. The ramp is scheduled to reopen in late June. 

At Cooper Road:

  • Eastbound Loop 202 exit ramp at Cooper Road is closed for reconstruction until late May.
  • Westbound Loop 202 entrance ramp at Cooper Road is closed for reconstruction until mid-June.
