The Community Threads sponsorship offers funding for new or emerging events or program in Chandler that celebrate cultural expression, build community connections, and showcase the rich and varied backgrounds that contribute to Chandler’s identity. This sponsorship welcomes events that share unique perspectives not previously featured by the city or its partners.
Organizations interested in support must submit an application for consideration. Funding is intended to help launch or grow events that reflect the shared stories and experiences within the Chandler community.
Application Deadlines
This program accepts applications for events planned at least three months in advance, with two review periods:
- Round 1: Due Oct. 1, 2025 | For events taking place January - December 2026
- Round 2: Due April 1, 2026 | For events taking place July - December 2026
If requesting an event on city property or other related venues, please contact the appropriate division below to ensure that your desired event date is available. Submitting this application is for funding purposes only. It does NOT secure the facility or property rental.

This sponsorship supports events that educate, inform, or expand understanding of different experiences within the community that are not currently addressed by the City of Chandler or its partners. Selected applicants participate in educational event and marketing trainings, required for funding.
The program offers up to $2,500 in funding and guidance to five organizations or programs in FY25/26. Organizations may receive funding for up to two years, with the goal of enabling them to independently run future events with their own resources.
- Projects should address one or more areas of individual or community experience, such as age, physical or cognitive abilities, beliefs, mental well-being, personal identity, or life circumstances.
- Event/Program must take place in Chandler. Events/Programs not taking place in Chandler are not eligible for funding.
- Applications must be submitted online. Late submissions will not be considered.
- Only one application per project may be submitted.
- Funds are provided on a yearly basis; ongoing event funding is not guaranteed.
- Final funding decisions are made by the HRC and Connection & Impact Division.
The evaluation committee considers the following when reviewing applications:
- Topics Explored: The project addresses one or more of the areas listed above.
- Goals and Objectives: The project’s aims align with the city’s mission to support a welcoming, understanding and connected community.
- Budget: Proposed expenses are clear, reasonable and appropriate.
- Collaborations: Projects involving schools, local organizations, businesses or community groups may receive higher consideration.
- Accessibility: Events that are open to residents at no cost are rated favorably.
- Overall Impact: The project demonstrates potential for meaningful engagement and participation.
If awarded funding, a final report must be submitted within 60 days of event completion. The report should include:
- Narrative summary of the program or event and accomplishments
- Participant numbers
- Final budget
- Return of any unspent funds
Failure to submit a timely report or return unused funds may affect eligibility for future sponsorships.
