CHANDLER, Ariz. – “Rooted in Hope: 250 Years of Dreams, Journeys and New Beginnings” is the theme of this year’s Creative Expression Competition hosted by the Chandler Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division. The city invites Chandler students to use their creativity to raise awareness of this year’s theme by submitting an original visual or written work.

Students living in or attending a school in Chandler (kindergarten through 12th grade) are encouraged to enter. Written essays or visual art entries will be accepted through 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3. Submission guidelines and judging criteria are available online at Creative Expression.

Entries must be submitted in person at one of the following Chandler Public Library locations:

  • Basha Library: 5990 S. Val Vista Drive
  • Downtown Library: 22 S. Delaware St.
  • Hamilton Library: 3700 S. Arizona Ave.
  • Sunset Library: 4930 W. Ray Road

An entry form must accompany each submission. The entry forms will be available at every drop-off location.

Throughout the past two decades, the contest has had thousands of local students participate. All submitted entries will be displayed at one of the Chandler Public Libraries for the month of December and winners will be recognized on stage at the 31st annual Chandler Multicultural Festival on Jan. 17, 2026.
