Starfish Swimming is a nationally recognized swim instruction curriculum developed by the Starfish Aquatics Institute. This program builds upon the foundation of water safety with an emphasis on self-recovery and stroke development. With safety concepts built into the curriculum across all skill levels, students explore the water in a creative and comfortable environment while learning the correct swimming techniques from the beginning.

Registration level is based solely on your swimmer’s age – it doesn’t get easier than that.

Starfish Swimming consists of 3 age-based classes:

  • Parent-Child: Children 6 to 36 months old, paired with a guardian
  • Swim & Stroke School: All children 2 ½ to 13 years old (must be potty-trained and independently follow directions in a class structure)
  • Teen/ Adult Beginner: Anyone 14 years of age and older

*Please register based on the age of the swimmer on June 1, 2024.

We are thrilled to introduce your new swimmer to water basics! Swim School is designed to teach swimmers the foundations of swimming and safety skills with a focus on self-rescue skills.

Please bring a Coast Guard-approved life jacket to class, as students will learn how to use life jackets as an important resource.

Please arrive 10-15 minutes early on the first day of class. Upon arrival, you will check-in, answer a few basic questions about your swimmer’s comfortability with water, and will receive a wristband. We’ll do the rest.

If your student is a non-swimmer, please bring a Coast Guard-approved life jacket to use as a teaching resource.

Swimmers will receive progress reports throughout the swim session. This will give an idea of skills they are proficient in, and what skills to work on.

Learning to swim should be accessible to all, so we’re delighted to partner with community organizations who provide scholarship fee assistance to economically disadvantaged families. Please visit Financial Assistance to learn more and submit an application.

The streamlined registration process allows you more control over your preferred class time, and eliminates the need to determine which level is right for your swimmer.

There are three registration options:

  • Parent-Child: Children 6 to 36 months old, paired with a guardian -
  • Swim & Stroke School: All children 2 ½ to 13 years old (must be potty-trained and independently follow directions in a class structure)
