On-site job fair and 60+ resource booths available at East Valley Community Impact Day
CHANDLER, Ariz. — Four East Valley municipalities – Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe – are teaming up on Wednesday, March 4, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., to provide essential services to community members across the region who are at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness.
The one-day event will be held at Redemption Gilbert Church, 1820 E. Elliot Road, Gilbert, and bring together more than 60 providers offering shelter and housing support, employment assistance, healthcare, veteran services, ID services and more.
Collaborating on East Valley Community Impact Day is a first for the partners, marking a shared desire to address regional issues and needs. As many as 300 people are expected to access life-changing resources at the event.
Guests will have access to showers, haircuts, clothing and hygiene items, which provides a fresh start for meeting with employers. Breakfast and lunch will also be provided.
Free transportation will be provided by Chandler’s Community Navigators to attendees (if needed) from the following locations:
- Chandler Neighborhood Resources Department, 235 S. Arizona Ave.
- Chandler Sunset Library, 4930 W. Ray Road
- Downtown Chandler Library, 22 S. Delaware St.
- AZCEND Chandler, 345 S. California St. (AZCEND will provide its own transportation)
Free pickups will be provided between 7:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. Guests will be returned to the same location at the end of the event.
Event volunteers are still needed for two different shifts: 7-11:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteer training is one hour and offered virtually via Teams on Monday, March 2 from 4-5 p.m. or Tuesday, March 3 from 8-9 a.m. To register as a volunteer, or for more information, visit MyImpactPage - Town Hall.
“Addressing homelessness requires compassion, coordination and a regional approach,” said Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke. “By partnering with our neighboring cities, we’re bringing critical services directly to people who need them most. When we work together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents and strengthen the entire region.”
The four municipalities also are exploring the possibility of rotating the one-day event to maximize resources across the region.
More than 9,700 people in Maricopa County are experiencing homelessness, according to the 2025 Point-in-Time homeless street count organized by the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG). That number increased by 3% from the previous year due, in part, to the loss of federal funding for 1,000 shelter beds between 2024-2025.
Data from the January 2026 homeless street count will be available in late spring.
