Chandler’s vision to provide an exceptional quality of life is something I value and strive to support. By listening to resident input and re-imagining some of our public spaces, we can create beautiful areas that are usable year-round. That is why I have supported a budget amendment for FY2019-2020 for $70,000 to create two additional lighted beach volleyball courts at Chuparosa Park.

The popularity of beach volleyball has exploded over the last few years. I am so happy to be able to support a sport that has made the quickest transition from an emerging sport to a championship sport in NCAA history. It is also the fastest-growing Division I NCAA sport over the last five years. With Chandler’s diverse population I feel it’s important to provide amenities that appeal to everyone and represent different aspects of our culture. I am excited Chandler will be able to offer safe, visually appealing volleyball courts. I look forward to seeing how they will bring members of the community together in the spirit of competition sharing updates as this project progresses.

The courts are expected to be completed by spring 2020.
