The seven-member committee serves as a liaison between the City Council and the general community in matters regarding the aging. In general, they advise the City Council on essential policies, rules and regulations relating to advocacy issues experienced by the aging of the community, such as accessibility, volunteerism, and adult day care.

Members
Requirements: 7 members (3-year term); 6 members must be qualified electors; residents for 1 year preceding appointment. One member may be a resident of the local metro area for 1 year—preceding appointment.
The term of each member shall be for three (3) years, and each member shall serve until his/her successor is appointed and qualified. Any vacancy in office during the term shall be filled by the Mayor with approval of the Council for the unexpired term.
