CHANDLER, Ariz. – The City of Chandler is moving forward with continued improvements for Gazelle Meadows Park in Chandler’s Galveston neighborhood.
At the Aug. 15th Chandler City Council meeting, agreements were awarded to Achen-Gardner Construction, LLC, for the construction of Gazelle Meadows Park renovations and Ardurra Group for construction management services.
These contracts will allow work to begin on upgrades to Gazelle Meadows Park, located at 500 N. Exeter Street, as part of Phase 2 of the work in the Galveston neighborhood. Updated amenities at the park will include a new basketball court, parking lot, drop-off area on Exeter Street and other park furnishings and improvements.
Gazelle Meadows Park was originally developed as a retention basin in 1985. Existing park amenities were added in 1992. In March 2023, the city completed a final master plan report for proposed renovations to the park; construction plans were finalized in July 2024.
The Gazelle Meadows Park renovations are one element in a series of improvements occurring in the Galveston neighborhood, including storm drain, potable water, and sanitary sewer systems. These improvements will carry stormwater from this neighborhood to the existing Detroit Basin, also known as Gazelle Meadows Park. An estimated 261 residential properties will be removed from the floodplain as a result of this work, resulting in a safer community and potential savings for property owners.
