CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler Municipal Airport (CHD) is excited to announce the return of its community open house, Airport Day, on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at 2380 S. Stinson Way. The free event offers the public a behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation’s busiest general aviation airports and the important role it plays in the Chandler community as well as the national airspace system.

Airport Day brings together aviation enthusiasts, families and the simply curious for a day of discovery and fun. Guests will have the opportunity to view a wide variety of static aircraft and helicopter displays — from vintage and military aircraft to experimental builds and private, small jets.

“Airport Day is our chance to welcome the community onto the airport and show them what happens here every day,” said Airport Manager Ryan Reeves. “ Many people were surprised to learn how active and important Chandler Municipal Airport is, not just to aviation, but to the local economy and public safety.”

New this year, attendees can pick up an Airport Day passport and collect stamps as they explore hands-on and interactive stations, highlighting airport facts, community impact and the potential for future growth. Kids also can enjoy a coloring and paper airplane making station.

In addition to aircraft displays and activities, attendees may have the opportunity to take rides in select aircraft.

The new mobile Chandler Discovery Library will be onsite for visitors to explore. In addition, Chandler Police and Fire departments will host information booths and vehicle displays, along with other local aviation organizations. Guests also can grab a bite to eat from several food trucks.
