Alma School Road Multi-Phase Project

Current Construction Information (Sep. 17, 2021):

Construction continues for improvements to Alma School Road, from the Pecos Road intersection north to approximately Fairview Street, to narrow the existing median islands in the area to provide for the ability for three lanes in each direction with bike lanes in the future. Construction will take place within the existing public right-of-way and includes work at the Pecos intersection, added striping, narrowing of median islands, relocation of streetlights to improve lighting, and relocation or removal of medial island landscape as needed to accommodate the improvements.

  • Scheduled to begin Monday, Sep. 20, left turns in and out of The Casitas at San Marcos will not be permitted as construction crews work in the center of Alma School Road on the median islands. This restriction is scheduled to be in place for approximately one week.
  • Crews continue work on median islands on Alma School Road and are scheduled to begin installation of landscape irrigation in the medians the week of Sep. 27.
  • Also scheduled to begin Sep. 27, the northbound and southbound curb lanes will be closed during off peak hours as electrical crews begin installation of electric conduit for traffic signals and as work begins to conduct concrete removals on the outside of Alma School Road.
  • Access to businesses and residences is being maintained during this work.
