(Project Nos. ST1804.401 / CHN0244D / T020301C)
Construction continues to widen Chandler Heights Road from Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive to four lanes (two lanes in each direction) with raised medians, bike lanes, center turn lane, curb, gutter, sidewalk, street lighting, drainage improvements and utility relocations for the project. Chandler has contracted with Sunland Asphalt to construct the improvements which are expected to take 12 months to complete.
The project includes any necessary utility relocations, drainage improvements such as retention basins and concrete scuppers throughout the project limits, as well as traffic signal improvements at the Chandler Heights Road and Lindsay Road intersection, new street lighting (LED) and traffic signal interconnect. Project exhibits are available below.
Current Construction Information (July 23, 2025):
- Chandler Heights Road traffic is currently shifted to the middle lanes from Gilbert to Lindsay, and to the north side of Chandler Heights, from Lindsay to Val Vista, one lane in each direction.
- Crews are currently preparing to install concrete driveways, curb and gutter along the south side of Chandler Heights from 148th Street to 150th Street, and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) ramps at Lindsay Road.
- Electric crews continue intermittent work at the Chandler Heights Road/Lindsay Road intersection to complete traffic signal work.
- SRP crews are currently working to complete the conversion of overhead electric to underground, which is expected to be completed and poles removed in 1-2 weeks.
- Scheduled for the week of July 28, landscape crews will begin installation of irrigation and landscape in median islands.
- Crews continue work to install drainage improvements with catch basin installation next week, and work on concrete spillways scheduled for the week of August 11.
- Scheduled to take place August 4-6, paving crews will pave the base course (bottom layer) of asphalt on the south side of Chandler Heights, between 148th Street and 150th Street.
- Scheduled to take place August 6-8, crews will mill (remove) asphalt on the north side of Chandler Heights, between 148th Street and 150th Street with crack seal application taking place August 14-15.
- Scheduled to take place August 25-27, paving crews will pave the surface course (top layer) of asphalt on Chandler Heights Road, from Lindsay Road to Val Vista Drive. As the paving crosses side streets or driveways, there may be brief periods where access is restricted, but crews will work to expedite this activity to the extent possible. Following paving, striping will take place and adjustment of utilities, such as manholes and valves, to make them flush with the new asphalt surface.
- Masonry crews continue work to complete block walls along Chandler Heights Road.
- Business and resident access will be maintained during this work.
Thank you for your patience during this work.
