(Project Nos. ST1804.401 / CHN0244D / T020301C)
Construction continues to widen Chandler Heights Road from Gilbert Road to Val Vista Drive to four lanes (two lanes in each direction) with raised medians, bike lanes, center turn lane, curb, gutter, sidewalk, street lighting, drainage improvements and utility relocations for the project. Chandler has contracted with Sunland Asphalt to construct the improvements which are expected to take 12 months to complete.
The project includes any necessary utility relocations, drainage improvements such as retention basins and concrete scuppers throughout the project limits, as well as traffic signal improvements at the Chandler Heights Road and Lindsay Road intersection, new street lighting (LED) and traffic signal interconnect. Project exhibits are available below.
Current Construction Information (June 20, 2025):
- Chandler Heights Road traffic is currently shifted to the middle lanes from Gilbert to Lindsay, and to the north side of Chandler Heights, from Lindsay to Val Vista, one lane in each direction.
- Tentatively scheduled to take place June 26-29, crews will adjust utilities, such as manholes and valves, to make them flush with the asphalt surface. To accommodate this work, left turns will be restricted to/from Four Peaks Way, and also for westbound Chandler Heights Road at Lindsay Road.
- Scheduled to begin the week of June 23, grading crews will prepare the grade for sidewalk installation east and west of 148th Street, and scheduled to begin the week of June 30, concrete crews will install sidewalk.
- Scheduled for July 1, crews will mill (remove) asphalt and subsurface material for median islands east of Lindsay Road and prepare the grade for concrete median curb, to be installed the week of July 7.
- Electric crews continue work installing street lights along Chandler Heights Road, from Gilbert to Lindsay, and also continue work at the Chandler Heights Road/Lindsay Road intersection to complete traffic signal work.
- Crews continue work to install storm drain and manholes on the south side of Chandler Heights, from 148th Street working to the east. Crews are scheduled to backfill manholes late next week, and the week of June 30 begin excavating and installing catch basin locations as part of the drainage improvements.
- Crews continue work on block walls with these areas expected to be backfilled sometime after the Fourth of July holiday.
- Business and resident access will be maintained during this work.
Thank you for your patience during this work.
