The City of Chandler has contracted with Achen-Gardner Construction to relocate existing Chandler utilities, such as water and sewer pipeline, in preparation for the future Salt River Project (SRP) 230 kV project to Intel. Work will take place in the proposed SRP easement in Chaparral Way, from Dobson Road to Lake Drive; in Lake Drive from Chaparral Way to Alma School Road; in Alma School Road south to Chandler Heights Road, and east in Chandler Heights Road to east of Arizona Avenue at the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks. Project completion is expected in early 2023.
The following upcoming construction information is provided:
- Work continues on water and sewer pipeline at the Alma School Road/Chandler Heights Road intersection with traffic reduced to one lane in all directions with left turns permitted at the intersection.
- Traffic on Alma School Road has been shifted to the west side of the median; however, crews removed sections of median island in Alma School Road north of Chandler Heights Road yesterday and will pave that back today to better manage traffic during the work. This will also provide additional business access off of Alma School to nearby businesses. Traffic will continue to be restricted to one lane in each direction during this work. Access continues to be provided at Chandler Heights Road and Fulton Ranch Boulevard. This work is expected to take 2-3 weeks to complete.
- In addition, Chandler Heights Road is reduced to one lane from California Street through and east of the Arizona Avenue intersection to accommodate utility relocations.
Access to residences, schools, and businesses will be maintained. Crews will generally work daytime hours, weekdays with possible Saturday work. Restrictions will remain in place even during non-work hours to protect the work zone.
Thank you for your patience during this work.
