Downtown Chandler Improvements – Dr. A.J. Chandler Park Renovation (CA2402.401)
The City of Chandler will begin construction in early 2026 for the Dr. A.J. Chandler Park Renovation project. Home to many of the city’s special events and festivals, the park was last renovated in 1986, and Downtown Chandler has changed significantly since that time. With the addition of multi-family housing, office space, and new retailers and restaurants, the park has also seen an increase in special events and entertainment, now with more than 100 events a year.
Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 12 with the park area perimeter being fenced on both sides of Arizona Avenue to create a safe work zone for the contractor to begin work, and two-way traffic maintained on adjacent streets. During construction, parking along Arizona Avenue will be limited; however, parking structures and surface street parking will continue to be available throughout the downtown. Park improvements on the west side of Arizona Avenue are expected to be complete prior to the 2026 holiday season, and on the east side of Arizona Avenue by early spring 2027
