Downtown Chandler Improvements – Dr. A.J. Chandler Park Renovation (CA2402.401)
The City of Chandler will begin construction in early 2026 for the Dr. A.J. Chandler Park Renovation project. Home to many of the city’s special events and festivals, the park was last renovated in 1986, and Downtown Chandler has changed significantly since that time. With the addition of multi-family housing, office space, and new retailers and restaurants, the park has also seen an increase in special events and entertainment, now with more than 100 events a year.
Construction is expected to begin Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, with the park area fenced on either side of Arizona Avenue to create a safe work zone for Chandler’s contractor, Willmeng Construction, to begin their work. Park improvements on the west side of Arizona Avenue are expected to be complete prior to the 2026 holiday season, and on the east side of Arizona Avenue by early Spring 2027.
Parking along Arizona Avenue will be limited; however, there are several parking structures and parking on surface streets available throughout the downtown, so please continue to visit Downtown Chandler and watch our progress.
Construction information will be updated on this page and additional information is available on the Park Master Plan and Dr. A.J. Park Master Plan at Chandler Parks.
