Holiday safety reminders

Please celebrate safely:

  • Try to keep pets indoors, or otherwise secured. The unexpected bang of a firework can startle pets and result in uncharacteristic reactions.
  • Fires, potentially serious burns, or hand and eye injuries can result from the use of fireworks, especially when young
  • children are involved.
  • The sale of permissible consumer fireworks is allowed from May 20 through July 6.
  • The use of permissible consumer fireworks is allowed on private property, with the permission of the property owner, from June 24 through July 6.
  • Chandler prohibits the use of permissible consumer fireworks in any public park.
  • For the latest information on Chandler’s fireworks restrictions, go to chandleraz.gov/fire.
  • If you’re having a pool party, assign a responsible adult or two to be water watchers.
  • Do not place ashes or coals near or in your trash or recycling container. Fires are commonly started because coals are not fully cooled before being thrown into the garbage. When hot coals are thrown out, the trash or recycling container can catch fire.

Chandler’s A-OK program lets residents help others in need

Inside your Chandler utility bill, you will find a convenient way to help people in need in the community.

The Chandler Acts of Kindness donation program, or A-OK for short, was developed in July 2000, to give residents an opportunity to make a voluntary donation to assist individuals and families within the City of Chandler that are in need.

The contributions collected go back into the community through a grant process to support a variety of human service programs that provide basic needs such as food, shelter, clothing, transportation and utility bill assistance to low-income Chandler
residents.

Thanks to the generosity of the community, the Acts of Kindness program continues to be a success. Every cent collected is put right back into the community to help individuals and families in need. We appreciate you helping to make the lives of your neighbors a little better.

Call 480-782-2280 to learn more and to make an A-OK donation.

It pays to take advantage of Chandler’s transportation alternatives

Bus route in Chandler

With current gas prices, you may be considering an alternative transportation option for your commute to work, school or for day-to-day errands. Chandler offers several options to fit a variety of needs. One obvious benefit includes saving money, but many options also reduce stress — a simpler commute can help you relax, read, do homework or even catch up on the latest show you’re bingeing.

Bus Routes — Twelve different bus routes are available in Chandler. The Chandler Park and Ride facility, located at Germann Road and Hamilton Street, accommodates two bus routes — one is an express route with direct service to Phoenix. The Park and Ride provides covered parking spaces and even electric car charging stations making it easy to park your vehicle and then catch a bus, carpool, vanpool or a Chandler Flex.

Chandler Flex — This on-demand shared transportation service was launched in 2022. A minivan picks you up and takes you where you want to go in Southwest Chandler. It is a shared service, so other passengers may be picked up and dropped off along the way. Book a ride using the Chandler Flex app or call 602-932-0291.

First-Mile, Last-Mile — This service provides discounted rides through Lyft to and from designated bus stops south of Pecos Road to destinations located within the eligible service area. The program expands public transit access to an area of the City with limited availability, providing more convenience to bus riders.

Bicycle — Bikes are also popular options to take you where you need to go. Chandler has 360 miles of bike lanes within its borders, and its first protected bike lane will be constructed soon on Frye Road. The Chandler Park and Ride has secure bike lids available if you choose to ride your bicycle to and from the facility.

Shared Scooters — Two private companies currently offer electric scooter-sharing services, with rentals available in Downtown Chandler that can be used citywide. The companies are privately owned and operated and are not affiliated with the City.

Accessible Options —  Chandler transportation services are accessible (Bus, Flex and First-Mile, Last-Mile), but ADA-certified individuals have additional alternatives such as Paratransit and RideChoice. To learn more about alternative ways to get around the City, call 480-782-3440.

  • City offices will be closed Monday, June 19 for the Juneteenth holiday. Trash and recycling collection will not be affected.
  • City offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. Trash and recycling will NOT be collected on Tuesday, July 4. Recycling and trash will be picked up one day later for the entire week through Saturday.
  • On July 1, you will be able to view the City’s Annual Water Quality Consumer Confidence Report for 2022. It contains valuable information about the source and quality of your drinking water.
