CHANDLER, Ariz. – Discover our incredible world at the City of Chandler Earth Day Celebration. The Chandler Nature Center (CNC) invites the public to a morning of environment-friendly activities and educational sessions at this free event on April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon.

“We are honored to live in such an amazing desert landscape. There is so much to learn and explore!” says Cadia Hernandez, Recreation Coordinator at the CNC. “This year, our Earth Day Celebration emphasizes the impact we can all make on our environment. Even small steps can make a large difference in conservation and sustainability.”

The Earth Day Celebration features activities for all ages throughout the CNC and Veterans Oasis Park. Attendees can decorate a nature journal and harness the power of the sun to make a sun-printing craft.

Dr. Tania Hernandez, Research Scientist at the Desert Botanical Garden, will be a guest speaker at a session in the CNC at 10 a.m. Dr. Hernandez will cover an important topic close to our hearts as Arizonans: exploring the state of saguaros in Arizona and discussing conservation and environmental changes that are threatening saguaros in our urban desert environment.

The Earth Day Celebration includes a variety of informational tables from organizations across Arizona. Attendees can participate in interactive games, win prizes and learn something new. Vendors include the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix Herpetological Sanctuary, Desert Rivers Audubon and many others. Also, the Arizona Humane Society will be on site with adoptable pets.
